help with fuel pump

i just bought a walbro fuel pump for my 86 mazda rx7 n/a. i know i dont need that much fuel but i really needed a fuel pump and it was a steal for about 100 dollars. what do i need to do to run this fuel pump safely without losing any power? Is there any drop in fuel regulators that will help? If you guys have any parts and/or instructions that will help me run this safely, let me know. thanks in advance.

Lots of people say it'll over power the FPR and cause it to run rich at low rpm. I should know for sure tuesday!

Well, My motor is far from stock, but it does run very well on the stock fuel mapping below 2K so I'll be able to tell if it affects idle for you or not. I've heard both sides argued with the same intensity. Half the people say the stock FPR can't handle it and the other half have no problems at all.

I should really get off my *** and make a sig with the mods... but for now I'm gonna make you look for it.

I have several posts explaining my engine, and I should be right around 200hp or so to the ground. I've also taken a lot of **** for posting my experiences and choose not to make this another thread like that.

PM me if you have any other questions. (but you'd better have looked up what I'm running if you do)

I wouldnt bother putting a 255lph on ANY NA rx7. It flows wayyy to much. When i put mine on, it killed my ET from running too rich, made my MPG around 10, and successfully shot a 4-5ft flame out the back after 3rd gear redline without cats. Dont do it...even with an SAFC. Just get an FC turbo or an FD fuel pump

SX makes good ones too...

Funny, I was shooting 4' flames before my porting and now I'm lucky to see 12." I hope to god I can get the fuel supply back to where it was capable of that much excess. Running lean sucks donkey nuts!

We'll see what happens tomorrow. Mine should be here before noon. I only have an afternoon class tomorrow as well so I'll have lots of time to play with it.

I just installed a Walbro the other day on my TII and it only increased my rail pressure a couple of pounds. The car runs fine but is a little rich.

Oh, the install went fine when I thawed out again after doing it. (+5 F) The only differences it made were that the pump is way louder than stock, and the car runs a bit smoother throughout the whole rpm range. If you look at my rev limiter thread you'll see the other problem I'm having which I had thought was the stock pump running out of oomph at high rpm.

It's not rich, and I haven't adjusted my s-afc at all since installing it.

If you just had ACL surgery you do NOT want to be doing this mod. I had my left knee scoped the week before thanks giving and it was still hurting me last night doing the swap. I personally hate working with gas tanks and wouldn't dare do it while on my hard core pain meds. But it's your call I guess.

I need to update a previous statement here. I hadn't had the car really up to temp and on the open road when I said it didn't run rich with the walbro. I just got back from the 160 mile round trip to my g/f's and it certainly does run richer with that pump. I've knocked down the low throttle mixture 4% on the s-afc to bring it back to where its stoich at 11% air flow cruising.

HeffBoost: Do you have a fuel pressure gauge?

How many puonds more pressure does the walbro make at idle then the stock T2 pump?
