There is a lot of stuff between the battery & the dash voltmeter that can cause confusion.

Anytime you are having voltage problems:

Test the alternator output with a DMM betweem the output terminal & the alternator frame.

Test the primary hot wire.
With the engine running and some electrical load (EG headlights) take a DMM check the voltage drop from the alternator output post to the battery(+).
Jiggle the primary wire.
You should see <0.5 volts.

Test the ground.
Next check the voltage drop from the alternator frame to battery(-).
You should see <0.5 volts here also.

Re: Help electrical problem

Whoa!!!

I missed this thread entirely. Until now...

Andy, Andy, Andy. Why would you lay It on the forum as If my FD Alternator, the one that I tested prior to shipping - like every other one, Is the existing culprit to your on going electrical problem???

You destroyed the Voltage Regulator as you did to the Voltage Regulator to the former FC Alternator. As admitted In your recent thread. https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...hreadid=207071 Than, now, you go on heavy to suggest " I Hope is not the alternator just bought it from silverrotor". Give me a break will you?

At any rate, I will have a look at It, based on our previous PM. Not for the fear of a shorted/malfunctioned part based on my end, rather I feel I could repair It for alot cheaper, Infact I'll do It for free, than anyone you know. Also, I work with Incredible guys here. Further, I like to help out members of the RX-7 board.

Expect a pm...

Well I have blown a voltage regulator before. Tony its not like he has 500 neons in his car man. I blew my old alt by power sliding out of an intersection and the volts went to the top of the guage...the next day my car died. I have had my cyurrent FC alt for a while and its been ok but I still want some extra juice so I ordered the FD alt from you.

Further Andy, you go on to say my Alternator "works great". https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...hreadid=125116
