CA HELP! DD engine dies in neutral also has idling issues!

Drove it for the first time in a month yesterday. She has no problem starting. I just got done changing all of my vac hoses to silicon. I also changed all of the gaskets and replaced the whole cooling system. The coolant is bypassed. It has a new battery. I notice that when the car is about to die all of the lights would start to dim. When i turn the car on it would jump to 1.5k for 3-5 seconds then drop to 800. When I drive the car in neutral before i brake or turn the engine dies. Sometimes it hesitates in 1st gear. This is my DD she needs to start running! Please HELP! I have the Haynes manual but it doesnt give me the info I need. The service manual helps but I only have the Turbo part of the book (N/A is missing =[) Im still a noob at this. Anyones help would be appreciated. Peace.

Get the battery and alt tested first. That's free if you can get it to any parts store, if not pull them off/out and carry them in there.

You could have a vacuum leak, you might have neglected to reconnect a ground, or many other things, but I'd start with the alt and battery.

What does "the coolant is bypassed" mean?

You can find the FSM free to download all over the web. Here's a link I use often: http://www.rotaryheads.com/PDF/2nd_gen/index.html.

If the engine is stalling at idle, a large vacuum leak would be my first guess. I assume it will stay running if you give it a little bit of throttle?

yes it does stay running when i give it throttle. I used silicon hoses and those plastic tie things so im pretty sure there is no vac leak. the coolant doesnt go to the tb so i bypassed it. thanks for that link just what i needed. im going to re adjust the idle right now then repost later
