Help With COne Filter Kit!!!!

Can someone please tell me where the hell this aluminum adapter goes when i install the cone air filter kit. I have tried and tried to figure this out, the filter is on my car clamped to the front of the MAF. Where the hell does this go?

Ted, you should be more resourceful!

Anyhow, since you have a 89, you don't need the adaptor plate (it's for 86-88's). You should just be able to clamp the filter itself to the end of the AFM.

I have an 87 Base with the K&N cone filter. What do I do with the open port that goes to the air pump if I don't have an air pump?

I was talking about the port on the back of the filter.

I think he's talking about the hose that goes from the air box to the air pump. I don't think you would want to plug that. Go to Pep Boys and get a rice boy breather filter, and stick that on the end of the hose.

I think that's where the air pump draws in air. I would imagine it could cause problems if the air pump is trying to draw in air, but the hole is plugged up.

I used a chevy 1 1/4" breather filter and made a mount that clamps in with the MAS and uses the stock hose to filter the air pump inlet. In retrospect, I wish I would've just used pantyhose over the inlet...

If you're using custom valving off the air pump for the 6 ports like I am, you need to prevent rocks from getting into the air pump. Nothing more.

If you filter or don't filter the air pump, it should make no performance difference. I actually gained low rpm psi when I put the filter on my air pump and now can't back off the pressure enough to keep my ports closed below 3K. (SUCKS!) So I'll be going to an rpm actuated switch on a GM air ride suspension pump.
