help..car wont stay on..

ok problem..I have an 87 TII and for some reason it doesnt want to stay running..i was doin a pull at like 8lbs with no exhaust on just downpipe..and then after i let off it sputters and dies..so i just thought that i blew off intercooler pipeing..but check all pipes and still connected..and then tried to look at all vaccum lines and they look good..

when i try to start it it starts up and then jumps to like 3k for like 5 sec and dies..i heave to give it gas to stay alive..i know that cold start jump it up but it usually only jumps to 2k but its also warm..

what could the problem be?
Trevor

yea. the same thing happened to me not to long ago. i have a n/a 88 gxl. my car is still sitting. and i think is might be an apex seal. since it doesnt want to stay running, this means it might not have compression leading to this problem. thats what i think.

crooked.

Vacuum leak. Take carb cleaner and spray it on all vacuum hoses and connections when your car is running. You'll know it when you find the leak(s).

it has to be a really small leak if your actually getting boost

how much boost are you getting

and do what inflateablepets said to find the vac leak

Check the TID, how ever it usually will die in boost if the TID is ripped.

glad you figured it out that would do it, you can actaully build boost with quite a few vacume leaks. i wqs still able to make 13 psi no problem with like 3 vac lines open
