Unhappy Help, car wont start.

Help. I just rebuilt my motor for my 1990 GXL and it wont start. Has spark and fuel, it cranks and sometimes tries to fire, but it wont start. I've already pulled egi fuse and tried atf, but still no luck. Anyone have any more ideas? Thanks

Be sure your AFM is snuggly connected to the intake pipe and the connector is plugged in. Try to tow start it.

Afm is plugged in. There's too much traffic to tow start it now. I'll do that tonight. Thanks. Any more ideas?

Well since it is a rebuilt engine it will have little compression. A tow start will do it though. then just begin the break in process and it will start to build up compression.

Ok, ill tow start it here in a while. Im pulling the intake off now just to make sure i have everything connected in the right places. Is there anything other than the afm thats will keep it from running if they're not plugged in.

If the AFM wasn't plugged in on startup it would immediatly rev to 3 or 4 grand, then die.

Ok, Afm is definately plugged in then. It looks like i have everything plugged in. However there is a black circular plug with a light green/black stripe wire coming from it. It sits right behind the alternator, but I dont see anything it could plug in to. Any one know what its for? Thanks

our cars have extra plugs if they did not have all the options installed so it may just be one of those.

I doubt it would even start- mine wouldnt. That plug is for a water temp sensor which activates the AC fan, dont worry about it.
