Are you holding the flap open by hand when you start it? Did you do any work to the car recently and the problem then showed up?

Try jumpering the fuel check connector (yellow plug that may be surrounded by rubber boot) and try starting.

Download the FSM (see signature) and follow the troubleshooting section. I find that it's a great tool for diagnosis that isn't used enough.

 

Usually a start and stall on these cars is a very large vacuum leak such as the large hoses coming off of the intake boot being left unplugged.

 

 

pretty common problem on the turbo models, gets really hot down there.
