Help, can't turn my CAS

I just tried to time my T2 in hopes of fixing my hunting idle, and I can't get the CAS to turn. I loosened the hold down nut and it won't budge. Is there anything inside the CAS housing that holds it down as well? Thanks

I used a freaking hammer (lightly) to try and move it and no go.

once the nut is loosened, and if you still cant turn it

apply for 24 hours fitness, then ask for a personal trainer
after a few sessions, try to do it again

The CAS seizing is quite common, normally happens on the metal to metal contact above the o-ring.
I normally remove the nut and the stud, then use a soft-face hammer to move the CAS 90 degrees. From there you can usually pry the CAS up and out with a screwdriver.
Then, clean the white dusty portions of the CAS, lubricate the entire shaft with engine oil, petroleum jelly below the o-ring, antiseize above the o-ring, and then re stab the CAS and time the car at Idle.

If you've never experienced a seized CAS, you haven't worked on very many FC's, so you should save your insults to those more deserving.

Thanks scathcart. I thought that is what I was going to have to do, but I didn't want to be hitting it if something else was holding it down.

For the record I always apply a little bit of bearing grease to the o-ring and surrounding metal. Makes the thing much easier to remove in the future and a lot easier to turn while holding a timing light with the other hand...

That's pretty funny right there.

Not sure what exactly you're trying to losen, but maybe try some PB Blaster? Also known as Liquid wrench. Works wonders on rusted on nuts and bolts, and also works great as pepper spray for those unwanted guests!
