Could be the trailing coil is not working properly as this is where the tach signal comes from. You could disconnect the leading coil after the car starts to see if it continues to run and if it does then that proves the coil is working. If the car dies then that would lead one to believe the trailing coil is not working. If you jumper the two Black bullet connectors from the leading and trailing coils it will cause the tach to recieve the signal from the leading coil. If the tach continues to work then that tells you it is not the tach itself but either the trailing coil as a whole is not working properly or the wire which runs from the trailing coil to the tach has an iffy connection or the voltage powering the charging system is dropping too low and causing the tach signal to cut out.

^awesome. Definately going to try this.
My tach has been intermittently doing the same thing, I just haven't known how to troubleshoot it.

I believe you're confusing coils w/injectors (primary vs secondary).

Does not look happy.. I would need a little more info- have you or the previous owner done any work on the car? if so what work? Has the timing been verified as correct?

That looks suspiciously like a failing coil.

Motor is stock. It's an 87 tII with a jdm 91tii.

Haven't done anything. Also the previous owner had taken everything off and put a intake pipe from turbo to the afm. Someone told me that the afm being upside down would do cause it to run like that..
