help

my stock alarm sets every time I take the key out of the ignition, even though nothing is hooked up to the doors. Is there any way I can repair, reset, or disable the security system? My car is an '88 na. I would appreciate any help.

drive side, left by the rest pedal there is plastic panel. take it off. Then you will see the body ecu, to wide plug at the top.. pull it off.. no more alarm. I thnk it disables key reminder to.

No, the S4 security brain is not built into the CPU, but rather a seperate box located on the passengers side dash.

Please don't answer if you don't know!

Probably not the stock system, as the stock system needs to see the doors locked with the latch switches (interior lock) before arming.

You probably have an aftermarket security system if it is arming with just turning the key off.

And the title of your thread has been edited to actually reflect a question. Please only post once (you had two threads on this) and with titles that are clear and have a subject in them.

The stock alarm only arms when you lock both of the doors, and shouldn't be arming when the ignition wire loses 12v. Unless there is another type of factory alarm that I've never encountered, and I've encountered quite a few. There has to be an aftermarket unit crammed up in there somewhere and uses the horn as it's siren.

my alarm doesn't just arm with the ignition off. if that was the case that would be just fine. mine acctually goes off as soon as you take the key out of the ignition. if you turn the car off and leave the key in it's fine. I even pulled what i thought was the alarm that relay looking thing under the passenger side dash labeled "SET ASSY No." that worked for a day and now it's doing the same thing again. I don't need an alarm so i just want to know how to get rid of it on my 86 TII.

unplug it... on a S4 it is next to the passengers dash speaker.

Of course your problem discribed sounds like an aftermarket system, rather than a stock system
