Help: 87 TII Moon Roof Stuck

hi, i'm a new owner of a 1987 turbo2, It's been sitting for the last three years, Ive got it cleaned up pretty good but the moon roof is sticking in the drivers side track . Any help on how to free this up would be great . I've tried spraying with good ole wd-40 , but no good , I've worked back and forth with the hand crank and the switch , just cant seem to get it to move on the one side . The car has 80k on it and is pretty clean , started and drove as soon as i put a battery in it can't wait to get a good overhaul and get it inspected for the road .. thanks again

LOL well glad I could help you find it again :P

anyhow about that sunroof/moonroof they are not hard to take apart and clean up, in most cases you only need to take the main lid off and clean the tracks real good, then apply a white lithium greese, put the lid back on and you should be good.

headliner has plastic clips holding it in place it snaps off fairly easily, you may have to open the roof ever so slightlystart at one free corner and you will see how it comes off..

then its just a matter of a 10mm socket 6 nuts in total I belive and that will pop off the lid to alow to get at the tracks for cleaning.

well, now I'm stuck , turns out track was ok , cable jam . removed sun roof . Removed everything from sunroof frame to get to drivers side cable drive .. Tried to get it loose but didnt work , snapped cable . The grease was so dried up in a bend that it created a plug and would not move .. Does anyone know if replacement cables are available ?? will try to post some pics .. thanks

it wouldnt be a part of the drive so to speak, but would still have to be flexible enough to move thru the tube .. maybe ??

go to a yard and find another one...I believe those cables aren't available from Mazda anymore

also try the for sale section of your regional forum.
