Help

Ok I just got a 88 non turbo rx7. Great looking car. I took something off that looks like a air pump. Thought it might affect the idle prob it was having. It was sounding like a drag car camming lol. The air pump was there but no belt on it. I have heard this could make it run rich. I hope someone can help me with it. Its is some times hard to start and smokes real bad right after starts. Do these cars have timing? LoL Sorry I am knew to the rotary life. I'm just wondering what to do.

lol you are very wrong. the air pump has nothing to do the idle or any of the combustion process. from the limited info it sound like you might need to adjust your TPS. do some searches.

I'm thinking the main prob is its about to hit 200k on the motor ^.^. I'm wondering if the ecu is moded there no rev limiter. So will taking that pump off hurt anything? And would that idle prob be the fuel pump?

yes basically look where the butterfly valve in the trottle body there will be a sencor right there it works by creating a specific voltage by how far the valve is open or closed

thats cool and all but like i had mentioned earlier the FAQ section has everything https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/frequently-asked-questions-2nd-generation-rx-7-faq-fc-494667/
plus you have alot of people here that know what they are talking about when it comes to mods and other things not normally covered in tech sites

if you look like anywhere on this forum itll say that 200000 is about the limit that being said you can find replacement engines for pretty cheap and rebuild kits pretty cheap to i believe at pineappleracing.com is where you can get the rebuilds and there are so many treads and links pages videos on how to rebuild them pretty simple and fun to do
