I have a 1986 rx7. the other day my friend was messin around with the radio and the lights in the dash like the spedo, tach, temp, oil pressure, and voltage all went out but the auxillary lights outside work but not inside. the blinkers and high beam light work and the shift up light all work. any help or suggestions would be great.

probably have a short in the dimmer circuit, check the wiring around the radio for any chafing to be sure it isn't grounding out anywhere and replace the blown fuse.

Check the "meter" fuse in your fusebox that's near your clutch pedal.

Fuses do not need to be physically broken or appear burnt to be blown. They can malfunction while keeping the conductor intact.

yeah if you have to, pull a fuse and use a multimeter to make sure there is resistance between the terminals.

Covered in the FAQ for FC sticky thread.

Please read the FAQ for FC sticky thread before posting. Many of the commonly asked questions (such as the one that this thread was started with) are covered there.

For example:
My dash lights don't work
Did you check the dimmer control??? If you did and they still don't work the light switch connections may have burnt out. Check the back of the light switch.
