Help!!
My car died.... it ran yesterday. There has been a gradual, noticeable powerloss for the last year, and when I went to crank it this morning it wouldnt start. It turns over and over and over, but I hear no pulses, it's just one long turn. My first thought was bad ignition maybe, but since i dont hear exhaust pulses either, I'm thinking it may be a loss in compression so considerable that it can't make the mixture volatile enough to combust... in other words, the dreaded bad apex seals. Can someone plz help me figure out whats wrong with it. I would be forever grateful.

Loss of power over time, let me guess less and less top end as well? Bad gas mileage? Still have the catalytic converters on your ride? You might have clogged cats. Easy way would be to drop them and see if it fires up. Just a thought

Are you sure it's just not flooded? Especially if your bro just turned it on to move it? Try the Egi fuse trick or the atf trick and then crank it. Happened to me thought it might be the apex seals but it just turned out to be flooded. Try it...you got nothing to lose, could be some carbon deposits as well.

egi fuse trick, atf trick? It may be just flooded, b/c my bro prob didnt let it warm up the other morning when he cranked it; but then I don't here it even tryin to pulse when i'm turnin it over, it's just one constant turn. I dunno.

By a "constant turn" do you mean there is a high pitched noise almost a whine and no apparent struggle to fire? If so it is flooded badly to the point you have lost seal integrity and "Poof" no more compression. Sound right? You can further verify by first removing the EGI fuse and then one of the plugs. Now have someone turn it over while you feel for the pulse. If little or none you are prolly badly flooded.
Do the unflood trick and you should be OK. I'd suggest one modification to the standard method. Remove all the plugs (overkill maybe) and make sure the EGI fuse is plugged. Then trurn it over several times in 10 second increments with the pedal to the floor. This will help expell the gas and vapor in the rotor. Then replace the upper plugs and go ahead with the ATF/MMO trick. Worked for me.

Ok, I haven't posted in a while b/c I kinda got frustrated, but I tried unflooding it, and the atf trick and whatnot, but it still does not want to compress for some reason. I have no idea, any more ideas?
