Damn, for $4000-$6000 + the money from selling your 88, you should buy a 89+ TII and drop in a NEW, not rebuild motor =)

Keep in mind that almost every MOD you do to your car will almost always make it wear faster.

Well, what is the condition of the engine? Rebuilt? Ported? Compression tested? ALl of these things determine what you can do with your car safely without throwing seals out the exhaust. Is it totally stock? Give me a bit mroe info, and we'll go from there. Also, check out our How-To's section for some mod ideas.

Well if it's basically stock, Start with the basics...

I have an HKS super mega-Quadruple-flow intake (oh yea... Bet none of you have that one =) I don't think you will notice a difference, but your engine will breath easier..

Exhaust... This is one that you have to do some shopping and researching... Choices... choices... Do you want to remain emissions legal ? In NE we don't have emissions checks.. So I don't have a cat... and I'm missing one muffler (crappy stock muffler rusted off!!!) so I'm sounding pretty good too!!! Come get me cops! oh, Basically free-er flowing is better..

You can do some mods that cost near to nothing... like the throttle body mod... Basically taking out 2 of the butterfly valves in your throttle body, there are lots of how-tos and stuff that talk about this procedure.. Search for it.. I guess you get a better throttle response, but I have never had a NON modded throttle body, so I dunno myself..

Some mods that a lot of people seem to not remember, nor care about is suspension... I just put my suspension Techniques lowering springs on.. and I LOVE EM!! Pretty easy to install (besides rusted old bolts hard to remove) and the outcome is AWESOME... every crack in the road I can feel =) (I don't care about comfort.. only performance...) my car handles like no other.. that is why I love rx-7's...

Weight reduction is pretty CHEAP =) er free whichever comes first... I don't have power steering or AC... and WOW is it easy to work on my car now... so much room under hood... I can store a suitcase there...

You could purchase an electric fan... Big as you can get.. black magic seems to be pretty popular.. and frees up like 1/14 of a horsepower from the E shaft that is used to power the mechanical fan...

If you are going to be spending that much money, and you want major power gains... Go for porting.. I have no experience really with porting, cept it seems that if you port your engine.. or get a ported.. you will be REAL slow in the LOWER RPMS... but once you get up you SCREAM!! so if your car is your daily driver... I dunno about this option.. Just what I have heard though... Talk to people who have acually done this .....

and last, but not least... your rims!!! that is right, I saw these rims that you would love!! in SCC magazine... They are called "Bling Bling's" NO JOKE and they look like CRAP!!!! I don't know why anyone would spend money on them.. They probably weigh a good 50 pounds EACH and they look sooo gay... er, I'd probably rather get Volk TE-37's, GOD THEY LOOK GREAT ON SEVENS!

sorry so long... Green
