why did he only let it start for 3 minutes? only takes 4-5 minutes to warm up. you can do a search for alarm problem, as i know i have seen some posts about it within last couple weeks. Check these two links.

the coolant racing out after a short run time is a very strong indicator that the motors water seals are blown. to double check this, have the car run with the cap off.. if it spews coolant out or keeps forming air bubbles, then the motor is shot.
reason being is that the pressure created from the engine combustion cycle is leaking into the coolant jackets and pressurizing the coolant system.

there will be pressure in the cooling system even in as low as 3 minutes of run time, that is no indication of a blown water seal.
you do need to watch the system when it is cold for air being pushed into the cooling system, not trying to pop the cap off after the car has been run for a short period. also look for signs of block seal in the filler neck and for coolant type of smell from the exhaust while warming up.

do you have a factory or aftermarket alarm system, cause if its aftermarket then you've somehow messed with the wirering and overloaded the alarm system
