hella stupid question...

i don't know **** about the 2nd gen rx7s...so i was wondering....
i noticed that some 2nd gens have a hood scoop and others dont...are the turbos the only ones w/ the hood scoop?
if ure 2nd gen doesn't have a hood scoop can u still buy that hood w/ the scoop and swap out the scoopless hood?

i was thinkin bout gettin a 2nd gen but it doesn't have the scoop and i refuse to get a 2nd gen w/o the scoop (heheh, i love that scoop) so if i can swap out and buy the hood w/ scoop i'll get it anyways

the TII's (turbo) are the only ones that came from the factory with the hood scoop. fortuneltly you can put a TII hood on an N/A with minimal effort

you can get a CF one at http://www.fc3s.org/cfhoods.html it's looks really nice and hardly weighs anything, i'm looking at that one or the N/A CF hood, i'm leaning toward the flat hood because it weighs less and i'm planning on getting one of the air intake openings that replace the top of the left headlight (don't know the name for them)

if you don't want to fork over that much for a CF hood i would start looking for them at junkyards or ask people on here

don't put a T2 hood on an n/a it is rice as hell and I have also heard that it will actually put you at a disadvantage because of the air flow. get a carbon fiber hood. The only reason that it would be rice is because it belongs on a T2 and not an n/a.

i dont see how putting the hood scoop on an na car is rice. sure the scoop is for the intercooler, but why do people put sideskirts, rear bumpers and front lips on their cars? its all for the asthetic appeal of the car. i feel that tii hoods have a more aggressive look to them. i love my tii hood and i'd get a tii hood on an na anytime if i could strike a deal on it just for the cosmetic look.

i was gonna get one anyways, but i'd much rather the t2 hood than the normal flat hood....makes worlds of difference imo.....kinda feels like a celica w/o the scoop to a normal celica....i know the celica doesn't come w/o a scoop but try imagining it.....the FC looks like it was meant to have the scoop

please don't take this as an insult or anything, but it sounds like you wanna join a catholic church because you like the wine.....

Before you get a 7, ask around on here and do a lot of searching. If you think you're gonna have a car that you can just jump in and drive every day without the problems, then maybe you should be looking at those celicas instead. The 7 is a whole different beast, and it has it's own set of problems.....

First of all do you know anything about RX-7's????

the hood scoop is only meant for the stock mount intercooler and will have negative efects on an N/a car becausr of the way the air will flow in it and it will mess up the cooling. just buy another car if looks is all you care about. You need to be dedicated and love the seven for what it is. It is kinda like getting married you need to know what you are getting into or you will end up in a bad situation and fucked. if you want a scoop get a TII and hang on to your wallet.

The TII hood makes the look of the car. Rather modest but it makes all the difference.

If you are concered about airflow spray paint some cardboard black and block off the scoop.

It does make it look good. IMOP

Lets not start this discussion/argument again. If you are instrested on if it is rice or not SirRaven, there is already a poll thread with over 200 replies. Go look at that.

Sleepers are my taste, but I'm getting old too. Turbo with a flat (alum.) hood and hidden FMIC. Some dents and mismatched paint would help also. What was that piece of **** that just blew my doors?

So is my car as "ricer" because I have a FMIC, and now a non functional hood scoop?

SirRaven - Do what ever you want with YOUR car. Who gives a **** what other people think about a car they are not driving.

Thats not the issue here, this person is buying an Rx7 bases on a cool hood. This is dumb. First of all you need to look at the car as a whole not just the hood. Do you know what makes an Rx7 so special? It the engine. Its called a rotary. This is one thing you need to do research on. There are many wonderfull things about rx7's not just the hood please dont buy a rx7 based on the hood DO RESEARH MY FREIND. Ask around see what ppl think then do your own research online. DO NOT BASE YOUR DECISION ON EXTERIOR FEATURES. corse this is my own opinion, im just giving you advice.

assassin, and everyone else w/ a stupid reply....please remove the exhaust pipe that is stuck in your ***......

never did i say, IM GOING TO GET AN RX7 BECAUSE I LIKE THE HOOD......i said, i was gonna get an rx7 BUT i
***PREFER*** to have it with the scoop.....maybe some of u don't have too large a vocabulary or just have selective reading issues.....(p.s. the last line in my first post was a sarcastic joke that anyone with a slight bit of intelligence could have realized)

i know what the scoop is and y it is there (thnx to first reply to thread), i am only making a comment that the car's external appeal seems to be enhanced by the scoop regardless of its function....i know the problems rx7s have and i don't care about the problems because i find the car hella worth it....

regardless i like the car, ive always liked the car, but i just wanted to know in my original question y some fc's had it and y others didn't........

to me it seems some of you have gotten rather defensive from hearing comments like "fc's suck" or "all they have are problems"........i really suggest loosening those lugnuts on ure ***** before leaving flamish responses to something that was a simple question

and about buying the car cuz it is a "rotary" and not buy it because of its exterior look, gimme a friggin break.......put a rotary engine in a golf metro and tell me how many people are gonna buy it....u sure as hell won't so spare us the lecture on y to buy cars

"You need to be dedicated and love the seven for what it is. It is kinda like getting married you need to know what you are getting into or you will end up in a bad situation and fucked. " guess ure in for a shitty marriage if u think of gettin "fucked" as a bad thing......sorry i had to, that was a gimme

btw, i wasn't comparing the 7 to a celica...it was the first example i can come up with about the car cuz i have a '00 celica, so naturally it is the first thing to come to mind....

my parents and non-car-knowin friends ask me..."you have a '00 celica, why the hell are you going at such great lengths to get a car 11+ years old that is still pretty expensive?"......me: "because my celica isn't an rx7".....them: "if u want an old car, why don't you get a 240sx it is cheaper and looks similar?"......me: "because it is NOT an rx7!!"

u guys actually think i'd be willing to spend the money on a such an old car, if i didn't like the CAR....it'll be a surely dense person to get it JUST for the hood.....

Actually, no. Unless you use smilies with your post, you can expect it to be read as a sincere/no haha statement. There *are* kids who come in here and say things like that who aren't kidding at all. Use smilies so everyone knows when you're pulling their leg.

And don't get your panties in a bunch over those who got their own panties in a bunch. It's kind of a knee-jerk reaction, and, again, they probably didn't realize that you were making a joke.

I do have one request for you - next time, make sure that the subject line of your thread reflects your question. You'll have a much better chance of getting the information you need if you can catch the eyes of people who know the answers...

And while I'm here, I'd like to know where these people who say that a hood scoop on an NA will screw up the cooling/air flow are getting their 411 from? I guess this means that all the people using NACA ducts and the like are fools.
