Hella question

Do the Hella H4 lenses for FC have two bulbs (lo/hi) or what? I have lost both headlights on low beam. Hi Beams work for both.

Are you sure it's an electrical problem?

Both times my headlights burned out it was the low beams and they both went on the same day.

yeah, the voltage regulator in my alternator is flakey and sometimes it gives me the whole juice (71-18A). Today I decided to try to use some of that juice by turning everything on including my lights. I think I fired the lights but I'm trying to figure out what the deal is with the Highs working.

still hasn't fixed the dead battery thing....hoping it's a short in the alternator!

Hella H4 bulbs have two filaments, one for high and one for low, but they are inside the same bulb.

From your description it sounds like you pulled the battery terminals off while the engine was running, which would send the regulator on the alt to sky-high output…You would be very lucky if all you smoked was a couple of headlight bulbs

Well the Hellas DO have two elements. I took one bulb out and, sure enough, it's melted
I did NOT, however, take the battery cables off. I was driving at the time. I took a short trip "around the block" to check something else out and the darn thing crapped out.
So now I'm taking alternator donations and wondering where to get some new bulbs. Cheep.

You need to be careful driving though until you get the alt fixed or replaced, it "thinks" that it lost it's 12V reference like if the battery did get disconnected. You can smoke the Logicon, cluster and idiot lights jusat as easy.

For the bulbs, Ebay- This guy (eclutchmaster) has the whitest bulbs, and are very cheap for two. They will fit in the Hella H4 reflector/housing just fine and with the extra wattage they be brighter than the stock H4 bulb, but won't draw too much power and smoke the wiring: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cg...item=599130783

I'm not driving it anywhere until the new ALT is in there. Actually thinking of rolling it into the garage and tearing into some things. If it's gona be down, I might as well fix some stuff.
Thanks for the tip on the bubs.

How did you like the Hella H4 ???? where did you get them from and how much.....My lights suck and i would like better lighting.

As for the Battery makes sure it's not losing contact on it's own. Mine did this and caused some trouble.

They are ok, I guess. They were on the car when I got it. I have only driven the car in the dark a couple times though and never in anyplace that wasn't otherwise illuminated (I live in town) so I am no good refenence.
