helical or viscus?

helical or viscus?

ive looked for a while and i just cant find the info. i was wondering if anyone knows weither or not the lsd in a 1988 n/a gxl is a liscus or helical lsd. anyone know?

S5 is when they switched to the Torsen(helical viscous...) so you have a clutch type LSD unless they happened to install the Torsens late that year which i have heard nothing about.

I thought the torsen and viscous were different?

Torsen is a brand name of helical differential. It is not a viscous LSD.

S4s have clutch type LSD.

Helical and viscous differentials are completely different. S5's had viscous diffs and FD's had Torsen helical diffs. Only the Infini IV FC's got a Torsen diff, the same unit that was subsequently used in the FD's.
