When you flip the switch to blow hot air, do you hear a motor turning? If not, your air mix motor may be bad. If you can repair it, then do it. mazdatrix sells them new. Not cheap.

Your wiper switch has a bad relay. Check out Icemark's site for rebuilding the switch yourself.

most likely a bad or disconnected air mix motor or a bad logicon

can't you just reach down there and move it by hand.

This car was built as "fail-safe"

It is not reaching down, it is reaching up into the dash from underneath.

And no you can't move it by hand... the air mix motor is a gear drive reduction motor

Is the air mix motor the same thing that directs which vent the heat would come out of?

EDIT: It just dawned on me that if I look in the FSM I could find the answer my self. Kinda what it's there for lol.

Have you checked your Coolant?..if that is LOW the car won't get heat.If there is air in the cooling system, then the Heater core is one of the places that the air accumulates. It forms a Pocket, and the coolant can't circulate in the Core. You get No heat out of this scenario...as far as one speed wipers?.the Switches tend to Corrode,Wear out.whatever you want to Call it..My Wipers are "possessed"!..heh,heh.They go from Intermittent to WILD..then you hit the Switch to Mist, and Off..it Shuts Down.then I can turn them on again!..I have got used to it...Try the sec Gen For Sale section If you find you need a switch, and also ICEMARK on forum sells them.Good luck..STYX!~

Nope, that would be the air mode motor.

There are three motors/actuators. The air mix motor, the air mode motor and the Fresh/recycle motor.

Air mix, controls the heat to cold.

Air mode controls the vent that the air comes out of.

Fresh/recycle controls getting inside or outside air.

Hey, I'm over towards Dawsonville/Forsyth GA. Where exactly are you?

As for your problem, I have/had both of them. I replaced my logicon with a newer, S5 one and it fixed nearly everything. As for the wipers, and like others said, bad relay.
