Had the same problem recently. Solved it by back flushing the heater core. Hook a radiator flushing adapter to the heater return line on the bottom radiator hose, make sure the heater water valve is open and flush the hell out of it.

When mine stopped up I unhooked the 2 heater hoses that go through the fire wall to the heater core I hooked a water hose to one line at a time till I unclogged the heater core.

Well, does the blower work? If so, then it sounds like a problem with the air mix motor. The flapper door is not opening and allowing warm air into the system.

I agree with Aaron... air mix motor or Logicon control of the AMM is bad.

I seem to have the same problem, is there any way to manually open the flapper door?

My same old prob still exists to. I get a sort burst of hot air, and then cold again, But the air its blowing out is warmer then outside the car? It now takes forever to seem to wanna warm up to, but when warmed up to half way, it still blows cold. Im gonna replace the thermostat, tomorrow, and flush the heater core saturday. If that doesnt work, I dunno.

Have you considered resoldering your Logicon? All though I don't experience any of the above problems, I would Instantly rule that to be the culprit should I have had the same symptoms.

Actually when the logicon needs re-soldering its generally for the lights on the control panel, and while sometimes the sliders do have problems, if the air mix is not moving its often more a bad transister on the logicons main board or a loose plug.

I even repaired one that a screw for the back of the control panel had come off and was rolling around under the main board, causeing the temp to switch between warm and cold.

You can manually move the flapper door by disconnecting the actuator rod form the air mix motor and moving the rod by hand. Grab a manual to tell you wich rod to me. This is a pain in the ***, since these things are hidden nicely under the dash.

You can disconnect the logicon plug (the one that is way back in the dash), and in that plug or on the Air Mix motor (drivers side underdash above vents) jumper the Green/white wire to 12V+ and the Yellow to Ground momentarly and the mode mix motor (if it is working) will go all the way to the cool position.

Or yellow to 12V+ and G/W to ground to go all the way over to the hot side.

Remember to only momentarly jumper the wires... any length of time and you can damage the AMM.

You can test the air mix motor the same way.
