Heater core/hose delete

It is ridiculously hot down here in Miami and I dont need heat... I know I can just connect both ends of the heater hose together and bypass the heater core... but can I delete the heater hose altogether?

What does the heater hose feed coolent into on the rear iron?

Anyone want to buy a heater core/unit? blower motor/unit? Logicon?

You've got it backwards.
The nipple on the rear iron isn't "feeding into" anything...it's "diverting from".
The nipple provides an alternate path for the hot coolant to take and if it does (by going through the heater core), it returns to the loop at the lower radiator hose fitting.

You could cap both those fittings and delete the heater core entirely.

I just did to my RX-7 S5. I capped off the one from the radiator line and the one next to the spark plugs.

What did you use to cap it off? I guessing 5/8ths hose caps... any ideas for an easy source?

Yes you can remove the heater core. I removed mine 11 years ago out of my Turbo II.

The rear iron coolant line goes to the throttle body. The only two hoses that go to the heater core are from the rear iron (driver's side which is heater hose #1) and the one coming out of the firewall on the passenger side going to the lower radiator hose input area.

B

Edit: Have a peek at this: See where the old heater hose used to go? The old heater hose outlet is removed, then the hole tapped to 3/8"NPT, with a 3/8"NPT plug inserted, then some JB Kwik/JB Weld or other metal filler put in.

Don't use caps. They'll always burst, crack, or fail at some point. Been there, done that, and was late to my old job by a couple of hours after being stuck on the side of the highway.

Thanks for the pic, I guess I'll tap it out and then use a plug, but the radiator side will just get a hose cap.
