heat sheild for shifter/tranny area

Hey wats up guys?

Im new to the rx7 world and have been reading alot on here. And learning alot as well.

I just picked up my first rx7 it's an 89 gxl. pics to come shortly along with a proer intro.

Any how i was wondering if there is any kind of heat sheild or anything to stop or minimize the heat coming from the tranny right threw my shift boot.

I popped of the shifter cover and i can see the tranny i would assume that there should be ome kind ofrubber boot or something there to help with this issue. If there is somethiing that should be there if you could point me in the direction i could find it i would deeply appreciate it.

Thanks.
Adam

Please don't bump your post after 4 minutes. Or ever, for that matter.

There are several heat shields which effect the shifter area.

Under the car on the body should be a large shield that extends from the firewall down to about the middle of the car. This shields the whole front half of the exhaust system. All the cats generate considerable heat so if this is missing, the transmission tunnel gets very hot. It will melt the tar coating, and damage shoes.

As posted above, there are a number of rubber boots that shield the actual shifter. There is a large two layer boot held on with 4 bolts and a metal retainer. That totally seals the shifter to the car. It's important because if it's cracked or missing, hot air will flow around the shifter.

There are four people on the forums I'd never want to **** off if I wanted help (and if you have an RX7 you'll want help); Icemark, ReTED, HAILERS and Aaron Cake.

Being offensive and arrogant while needy is a bad combo!
