heat logicon removal

I have attempted to remove this module so I can perform the re-soldering on the circuit board because the positioning has stuck on the center vents. I cannot get the unit to come out of the dash more than about 2 inches and I can't get at the cables to remove them, or the screws on the faceplate. I have tried to pull on the unit as much as I dare but it doesn't seem to want to come out very far. Would anyone have any suggestions on how to remove this unit? Thanks.......

that thing sucks. i had same problem as you when i took out my entire dash. there is a wire connector several inches back from the unit. i didnt unhook it until the dash was out, but i imaging that you can get to it somehow. maybe taking out some of the ducting

Above the acelle pedal, is the plug, just above the Air mix motor. You will need to unplug it and feed the harness back through the dash through the hole where the logicon goes.

If you have trouble reaching up and unplugging the harness, sometimes its easier if you remove the vents/ducts above the pedal so you can see the plug easiler. I suppose you could also get at it by removing the cluster, but that is a lot of work for just one plug.

You can also unplug it by removing the panel located right in front of the dash right at the bottom of the windshield. The plug is right under that panel.

from what i can remember, you can actualy streatch the harness to reach from the opening aftter pulling the logicon out. but reconnecting it is a pain in the *** when doing it that way. i remember doing it from the bottom once.

I did mine, and I had to remove the steering wheel and guage cluster, but I have small enough hands to where I could reach to the back of the dash and unplug it, although still a very tight fit. As for the plugs on the back of the unit, just pull the logicon very gently and will come forward enough to disconnect the 2 plugs. Have patience grasshopper and you will suceed, otherwise you will end up ripping the ****** out and stomping on it.
