Logicon out, snake still attchd, going to solder
I managed to free up enough of the snake cable from behind the dash to enable me to get the logicon out and remove the 2 other cables and disassemble the unit. I have the PCB exposed and although it will be somewhat difficult I am going to perform the resoldering in the car with the snake still attached. I plan on just doing the spots where the connections come in and then see if that works.
I did take some the instrument cluster hood off, but found that once I located the snake cable underneath the dash I could get my hand up there to pull on it, and didn't go via the dash. I didn't pull real hard tho, just wiggled it and pulled slowly, then moved to the unit up front and pulled the slack through. Don't think I felt the connector, if that would have to be undone and put back together, Wow!, that would be real hard.
On to the soldering and hopefully success. Although this has not been a fun task, at least I know what I am into if I have to totally replace the Logicon itself.
