Headlights? What are those?
Okay, my headlights are weaker than sin right now. I've gone through two different sets also. When I first got the car, the headlights were so dim, I could barely see 10 ft infront of me. Now with my new set, they were great about the first month. Now they're just about as dim as when I got my car.
I wanted to know if this is happening because of faulty wiring, bad wires, Alternator being retarded, Battery low...or my headlights just hate me and God does not wish me to drive at night?
I have a 91' RX-7 Non-Turbo (dunno if that'll make a difference). I also have a Hane's for it so I can do all the work manually (but I'm car-illiterate so if you have any suggestions you'd have to be pretty to the point).
Thanks for your input....unless you don't put one...then I hate you

Not to sound like a dick or anything, but have you tried cleaning the lenses? Mine do tend to gather alot of gunk just becuase of the weather and I do live in an area with alot of airbourne dust
Yeah, check the alternator and battery according to Haynes. Lights don't dim on their own (unless they get dirty as Kung says). More than likely the problem has to do with inadequate electrical energy being supplied by the alternator. There are many threads in the forum dealing with this problem and how to test these components. Try a search.
Silverstar.
I love mine. I would look into them just because.
You might want to check to see how much voltage you are getting at the headlights. Then check the ohm's. The wiring could be bad and you just need to run new wires.
Also check the fuse. It could be a really old fuse acting up.

if they get brighter when you rev, that would be the alt.
Wal mart will give you a free(?) battery test.. couldn't hurt..
Also check the wires around the lights and such for shorts and what not.

Well, considering I really don't know much about this stuff I don't know where to start. They don't dim, they just happen to be dimming the longer I have them. And I already checked for cleanliness. It's not that. I was my car and clean those things and they're just not working properly. About 4 months ago, I got my battery checked and they said it was alright. Yes, it was from Jiffy Lube but still. Anyway, I think I'll look at the wiring and the fuses. Hopefully those will be easier to replace than the alternator and battery.
Oh, and Smog, my car is black. You probably don't see me much because I don't drive in Yuba too much. I'm usually in Roseville a lot. It's basically stock with a small dent on the front driver side.
