headlight problem-searched already...

this isn't really too big of a deal, but i just want it to stop
my passenger side headlight motor is in good condition, works and stuff, but for some reason after i turn off my lights, that one light keeps flipping up and down
for now i'm just leaving them up until i can figure out why

any help would be great, and thanks in advance
it's probably something simple, but i'm not too adept with the 7 and/or electronics yet

thanks

you mean it keeps going up and down and up and down?

haha, thats gotta be funny...

I'm thinking that there is a short in the wiring to the relay that tells the motor weather the lights should be up or down. That relay is probably getting a short saying it should be up instead of down. If its intermitent, it might be a wire just tapping something on and off...

IIRC the motors are a ground switched relay, so if that wire got shorted, it would ground itself and the only bad thing to happen would be the light(s) popup..

If the relay idea does not pan out......get under the car and look up at the headlight adjustment **** below the headlight. Turn the **** a full turn one way and then try the headlights again. If that does not work...get under the car and turn the **** back to where you found it and then a full turn in the opposite direction from the first time you turned the ****. See if that helps stop the up/down problem.

The schematic seems to show up/down limit switches. Maybe limiting the up/down travel will keep the switches in the proper configuration.

Hailers, doesn't it seem though the limit switches would do nothing but stop the motor rather than switch the relay back to the down cycle?

EDIT:
Heres for ref, might help, may confuse the hell out of you. I highlighted most of the HEAD circuit when I was tracking down a short. Maybe it will help

whatever's goin on, i turned the switch to keep the lights up with no light coming on to the on position (confusing huh?), then messed around with the regular headlight lighting **** and the pop up **** for a little, and now it's back down

i duno yo, kind of weird

Great fix. Probably was just what you said, the switch itsself.

I think I was mistaken in using the words limit switch. I look at the dwg of the retractor motor and see what looks like a switch. Once the motor has reached its full OPEN travel the switch moves over to the contact, which is the DOWN circuit. If you now put the interior switch to DOWN, the DOWN contact in the retractor motor til the motor gets all the way DOWN, where upon the switch now moves over to the OPEN contact......ready now for the operator inside the car to put the interior switch to UP. Something like that

yeh, limit switches...

you could also call them deploy switches, transit switches, end switches, travel switches, etc...etc...
