i seem to be having a problem with my driver's side headlight. it only works when i turn on the highbeams. any idea what could cause this? shorted wire? blown fuse? is the wiring to the highbeam and lowbeam on the headlights separate? if so, which one is the lowbeam one?

i thought that too...that's why i got a new set of headlights. same problem with the new headlights...so i guess it's not the bulbs.

 

Just check the connection of the connector to the headlight. Mine was doing the same thing and it was loose.

 

done that too. when i installed the new headlight i made damn sure the connector was on there tight!

 

any other suggestions?

 

well I would break out my digital Multi-meter and see if the plug is suppling voltage when the lights are on.

If it isn't I'be be looking at a broken wire... was the car ever in a front end accident?

 

no accidents. when i first got it last year, the lights were fine. i then switched to cheapo H4 bulbs(that come w/ the housings) and it worked for awhile then stopped. which is why i thought it was just the bulb so i swapped them out the other night. i did notice some water in both headlight housings(and the lenses had alot of condensation as well. wire short? damn...shoulda known better than to get those eBay specials...

 

well with a aftermarket bulb of more than 100 watts, you may have also burnt out the wiring to that light
