Which Headlight cover offers the best airflow? i know lots of people dont even think it helps at all, but for those of you who either have one, or know about one, which one works the best?

i've read on here that some people dont think it helps because its either not a big enough opening or that the area is a low pressure area, i dont believe either one however.

heres the pics...

thats ok, you can take out the FTP lenses for that, or put in a vent instead but not much air will get in unless you cut a hole for it to get through. thats what im going to do.

If it looks clean that would be good... how much of a difference does it actually make though?

I don't think it would make much of a difference unless the air is harvested into some sort of box.... Just flowing some air in the vicinity of the filter shouldn't do anything that putting a couple lbs of air in your tires couldn't

well considering its going to be made out of CF, i bet it will be WAY more than any other covers out right now, which is around $150, i'd have to pass on that.

There is only ONE way to determine if the headlight cover is doing it's job properly. Test it. You'll have to either install a temp sensor leading to a guage onto your dash so that you can monitor the temperature while you are driving, or you can put a thermometer near the air filter and drive around for a while and then pop the hood to see what the temp was. Personally I kind of like the idea of having an intake temperature guage.

Someone mentioned why not put a scoop on it. I think he meant a scoop like the TII hood scoop, raised, not inverted into the light. If it were raised it would be able to "scoop" up more air although it would affect aerodynamics a little bit (not enough to really matter) and may look tacky if not done right..

oh, yeah i was thinking about that as well, theres one for the FD like that, it doesnt look bad. i dont think you could pull it off with the FC though, since our headligt covers are a squared shape, and the FD are rounded so it suits the FD better because the scoop for the FD is also rounded (the FEED one is anyways)

well hoods are like 600 bucks...how much more than 150 could a headlight cover be? any more and people won't buy that...

oh yeah and the mariah cover looks like it would be really good for helping air flow right past the hole. the only these covers will work most likely is by having a scoop or raised scoop and mariah put theirs in a crack...

Since you guys asked...

They are almost finished. Well, the ones I saw were the regular ones (standard light covers but in CF) The light covers are done, but we have to add the mounting tabs and glass those to the covers and they will be ready to go. They really look nice. The fresh air cover will be done this coming week.

Price on them is $250 a pair for the regular ones and $275 for the fresh air one with a standard drivers side one. Also the fresh air one is availible for $150 by itself.
