Headlight Conversion unique ( I think)

I am going to attempt a headlight conversion let me know what you guys think or if anyone has tried it.

I am going to cut the flash to pass lenses on the front bumper to make the headlight look like one piece. I am going to make it to where they do not flip up and down. Insert either hid bulbs or maybe custom projector lights not sure yet and then mold clear lexan over the headlights. I also plan on making a custom adjustable bracket so I can adjust the headlights beam height. I also plan on making two intakes scoop slots right above the headlights to get some more air in the engine bay.

Let me know what you think or if anyone else has done this I need some advice please... Thanks a lot

not unique, there are body kits that do just this. nothing original about it as it's been around for close to a decade in japan on drift cars.

even though... you should go and do it, fabricating is what makes real car owners different from the ones who are rich and just buy or pay for the stuff they have on there car. i like the lexan glass... get to it man. have fun...

werd .
nothing is more depressing than a car guy who has to much money for his own good ... the more custom work one can do to their car the better brings the meaning back to tuning and custom cars ... because im quite sure even thoe you are somewhat replicating the design im sure it will have your own unique touch ... either way i wish you all the best of luck with the project nothing feels beter than compleating somthing that you are proud of now get to work

I was in no way trying to steal anyones idea, just sounded and looked cool when I drew it out on paper. Did not even know they made headlight conversion kits and I am sure if I did I couldn't afford one anyway. Just like every other fc owner I am broke as countless dollars go into my FC... It is a serious work in progress... Just a 20 year old with a dream of a nice unique car. I am also thinking maybe a custom fiberglass dash sounds fun Ill have to see how that goes though...

well the knockoff kit only costs about $400 on ebay. maybe it isn't as original but it is a hell of a lot easier to bolt on parts. i see nothing wrong with either bolting on parts or custom designing your own. i didn't mean it as a bad thing to do yourself just that it has been done before.

So I'm not a real car owner because I prefer to buy race proven and tested products?

There's nothing wrong with DIY **** but I mean come on unless your time is worthless it's probably a pretty even deal between buying something and spending time and money to fabricate it yourself. why work hard when someone has already spent the time and money to R&D something. I get as much enjoyment as working on and driving my own car as the next guy but I'm not gonna go out and try to make my own stuff when quality products are already readily available. time=money to most people.

sometimes it is nice when people ask you where you bought an upgraded component and tell them you fabricated it yourself. which is why i am planning on making my own reverse cowl hood but really there is nothing wrong with buying and installing something prefabbed, the only downside to each is there is the fuckup factor in making your own stuff and there is the "carbon copy" factor when buying things and bolting them on.

yeah well im not knocking you im just saying its way cooler to say, "I built that" rather than, "I bought that" then your friends are like wholy crap you built that?! Man your good, rather than oh yeah, he just has a lot of money... go ahead and buy and bolt your stuff on, some stuff you have to, I have an RB DP its not like i could make that i had to buy it but it would have been way cooler to have made my own (not like i could) and im also polishing my own manifolds, its way more satisfying to say i did that work then i paid a harley shop to do it.

fabricating is mainly self satisfaction, people are still equally jealous of other people having nicer cars and having money also. either method has the same outcome.

I am just proud of the fact that almost everything I have done on my car, besides a few parts testing and sandblasting I have done myself. Woulda done the rear control arm blasting but woulda taken weeks to blast proper.

I think custom is cool just because you came up with something that is carbon copy and made a unique version for yourself, instead of buying what everyone else has.

Most people I talk to about my car just wanna know how I learned to do everything I don on my car... and I just look at them and tell them "its just a car, their not aht complicated" ... people tend to think cars are a mystery, but once you get your hands dirty in them you tend to find that much like computers its just a small puzzle.

sorry to kinda go off topic just kinda wanted to chime in

I plan on building a sort of ram air intake with a hood scoop for my NA, but I am planning on doing a scoop that does down into the hood as apposed to one that sticks up. I can't imagine it will be too hard.

I find that funny... lol. B/c I buy all of my parts.. Mostly. However, I do all of my own installs. So does that give me any less satisfaction than if I were to make the part and install it. Also, most times it is cheaper to buy a mass produced part than to make your own b/c the price of raw goods are getting pretty high and big companies obviously buy the materials at lower rates. So, alot of times it comes out cheaper and you dont have to worry about the "**** up" factor, all you have to do is install... I dont know... maybe I'm not a true enthusiast... to each his own...

i always factor in what is cheaper, to do it myself or to buy and bolt on. some people don't have the time or knowledge to experiment, that shouldn't penalize them.
