Are headers worth the noise?

Hey I plan to get the full RB exhaust but I wondered if I should get the header as well.
I live in Cali so I don't want my car to be too loud.
Anyone has the full RB exhaust on their n/a?

I have heard that a car with a header and full exhaust, with no cat's is rediculous loud. I have never heard it myself, so I dont know first hand. Thats just what i have heard.

well ... i'm keeping in mind that "loud" is a relative term and may be different to you and me and the next guy, buuuut ...

in my opinion, the RB system (headers included) is not loud by any means!

I just put the RB header on my car yesterday. Beside that my car has a Bonez Hi flo cat and a HKS caback which is comparable to the RB catabck. The difference between the stock maifold and the header is noticable but it wasnt as much as I expected. At idle it is not louder just a little deeper. While crusing I couldnt tell much of a difference. The only place where I could really notice it was when I really got on it or above 3500 rpms. I would definetly recommend it.

I sold mine, too damn loud. I had their header/presilencer/y-pipe combo, with free flow mufflers. the thing was so F&*()& loud. Only thig was i LOVED how it sounded at idle, so mean and deep. Even at idle it was loud.

the mufflers make the difference in tone and volume

headers + presilencers + RB mufflers = not loud (bearable) at WOT

headers + presilencers + other mufflers = loud at WOT

headers + RB mufflers = loud (but not as loud) at WOT

headers + other mufflers = tickets, maybe even jail ...

any questions?

Header with NO cats and lets say an N1 catback IS loud. MY friend has that set up. I can't hear my own, when he's behind me. He likes it though. He just got yelled at too for being too loud going through the gate on bas

sup guys? I was questioning headers as well... I have the Bonez Hi-Flo connected to the Apexi' N1 Duals. I liked the RB Headers but was afraid of the noise. Should I say screw it and get the headers with a mid-pipe leaving the N1's to finish it off?

Gimmie a Hell yeah!

(That's just to boost my confidence)

Thanks, peace

I run the RB header, RB Presilencer, and N1 single. It scares old ladies and gives grandpa a heart attack!! At 5k RPM and up, you can hardly hear anything but the exhaust!! I LOVE IT!!!! It sure scares the hell outta ricers! MUWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

i got 2 1/2 inch headers tapered off to 2 1/4 out to the back with only a presilencer and 2 tips that could barely be called mufflers. sounds sweet.......

if ur exhaust is to loud for you ur music isnt loud enough....

My setup is all cheap stuff – all welded up $250 total at my local muffler shop.
Dual header kit - (Mazdatrix w/RB flange)
dual $20 "turbo pack" presilencers
dual $20 glass pack bomb mufflers (stock tips welded on)
- And yes the bombs hold up OK out on the end of the pipes where the exhaust is cooler. It's not too loud cruising at light throttle. It talks to you at WOT.

The only problem is I keep fracturing the welds in the presilencers. I’ve been replacing them every 3-4months at $50 a visit.
Does anybody know where to get inexpensive presilencers that will last?

Are headers worth the noise?? Depends. Do you want power and freed up exhaust, or do you want ride comfort. I personally wanted power so I got power. Also after you have a higher flowing exhaust most of your other mods benefit you more i.e. intake, ported intake manifold, streetport ect. But my car is also quiet loud but not too loud that the po-po is always on my back about it.
