Headers? Loss of Low end?

Hey to people who have aftermarket Headers?
After installing did you notice a dramatic loss in your low end?
How much gain would did you get form the headers? Mid/high end?

My headers are a custom design similar to the racinb beat but the piping is extended in a true dual format which connects into one two feet before the y pipe.

I'm currently competing in C/SP for autox and after installing my headers I noticed a huge loss in my low end. Would it be viable to use oper headers for autox?

You messed up the dynamics of the header primary length. Collector placement is crucial in performance of a header. By making a long primary system you should've gained bottom end but, it sounds like you made them too long and lost it.

The RB streetable header is a medium length collector design aimed at doing everything well but, suffers on the top and very bottom end because of that compromise. I run it with good success. There was a slight loss in bottom end on the stock porting though.

i agree....i lost a little low end...but upon putting my header/pre-silencer on, I didnt have time to fab. a feed tube to my actuators..so my ports are wired now...I think the header gave me a little low end lose though...but from 3800 to 6200 it rips!

I didn't really notice much low end loss. The little I did loose was more than made up for on the top end.

Thanks for the repsonse guys. Well I noticed a huge loss in my low end. My exhaust sytem is header to resonator and to a 3inch piping turbo catback N1 exhaust.
But my gains in mid and high end were very nice indeed.

I attached a pictures of the header on my car.

I guess you replaced the motor? I think that was you who blew it a while ago?

The header would have helped your low end - but the open aux ports hurt low end big time.

Here is a test: Time a low end pull 1500-3500 in 4th gear. Then close the aux ports and time the same pull.

My 91 NA was 3-4 seconds faster with the ports closed.

What brand header is that? I personally dont like that design, the primaries look of unequal lengths, and the front primary extends way further from the housing before bending than the rear rotor does. Im sure the company that made it knows more than I do, thats just my observation though...
