headers?

I know there's racing beat headers, but those seem awfully expensive.

Do you guys know of any good - but less expensive - headers? I might get RB, but if I can find anything cheaper, but does the job... I'll get that.

(blocking off the ACV valve in December - why the long wait? Money..... lol. I'm also gutting the cats, so... I need the header.)

Theres Mindtrain, but I dont know how much they are. But I would avoid pacesetter. Pete Yaw also makes headers, I believe. Those will make the most power, but I dont know the price. Ive heard really good things about Mindtrain, and I have RB. The quality is top notch. BTW, $200 for headers is nothing, especially considering the quality of RB headers.

It's only $187-$200? Well, damn, I thought it was going to be like $300-$400. I can settle for the $187-$200 range.

How does it feel after the RB header is installed? Any insignificant change?

I have the block off plates for the ACV valve....but I'm not really sure how to gut the cat, without screwing up - and it's a while down the road before I do anything to it. So.. I'm debating weither or not to wait before I buy the header in December, or just buy it now... and watch it riot in my garage waiting desparaitely for December to stroll around?

Oh.. and mindtrain? Never heard... linky? Who's Pete Yaw? Never heard of him/them either.

Yeah... I heard pacesetter was really horrible. I don't think I'd ever go with them...

headers do add a good amount of power though, 10% should sound reasonnable.

I have a pacesetter and don't see what's so bad about it.

It's been through 2 MN winters and lots of hard driving. No rust.

bolted right up to engine and fit PERFECTLY to stock cat.. I mean PERFECTLY.

Sound is a little raspy but then again the price is right. If you got some badass mufflers i'm sure the sound would be good.

The hole for the O2 sensor was correct thread and distance for the wire. The shape is good too, both tubes are equal in lenght.

But I can't say it's truly a PS cuz there are NO markings on it whatsoever and I bought it at the local RX-7 shop and the guy said ti was pacesetter... so i'm assuming he's right.

sorry, I don't have anything useful to say but, I am drunk and it really bugs me when people say 'headers' when talking about a car with only one header.

I ran a header with straight pipes to the mufflers for one day. It sounded like a helicopter at mach 1. The mufflers couldn't handle the sharp pops delivered by all that straight through tubing. I like loud, but that was ticket waiting to happen. A presilencer or cat in the middle is a must.

Well I have seen pacesetter and RB headers. RB is top-notch. $187 is nothing for a header. Go check out how much the honda boys have to pay for their DC sports headers...like $350-400. Crazy. Now for my GF's new mx6 they want $516 for headerS. But thats for 2 and the collector all the way back to the stock cat.

Heaeder rocks!! But the RB setup is pricey as you have to fork out $200 for the header and $200 for the presilencer, and then wait for 2 months for them to get here. But the Racing Beat setup is TOP NOTCH quality. I love mine!!!l

This 2 month back order is through racing beat only? Have you guys talked to Mazdatrix? I know they stock pile RB stuff. Damn I guess I'm lucky to be in SoCal. I've never had to wait, I just drive by, say hello to the guys (Racing Beat, or Mazdatrix, mostly Mazdatrix) and walk out with my parts.

mazdatrix doesn't have the RB n/a catback, & presilencer. Dunno about the header though.

Yeah. I got my header, then the presilencer came like 5 weeks later. Lucky bastard. That close to heaven.

I believe,

That the only difference between the RB NA and turbo catback is on the diameter of the y pipe. Why don't you go with a Turbo catback?

Get the RB header. I have and love it. Got it directly from RB dont forget to get theflange. its like 10 bucks extra. That is if your planning on making the rest of the exhaust yourself custon or having a shop make it rather. All in all RB header is the only header....

Don't ever buy Pacesetter. I have seen dyno graphs that show installations of Pacesetter headers producing LESS power than the stock manifold.

Gutting the cat is a no-brainer. Remove, ram a crow-bar down until all the stuff is gone, rinse, then reinstlal. Note that you will probably have to figure out some way to operate your 5th and 6th ports, or just wire them open.

The Victoria British catalog has headers. I think they are Monza. Not sure of the price. But they do have them for a Rex.

Those are the new style headers by Pacesetters.

Would the RB header and presilencer with a pacesetter cat-back be enough back pressure to open the 6th ports?
