header question
i got the rb header put on my car today. the setup goes ..rb header to what use to be the bonez racepipe then to 2 free flow mufflers. i dont like how loud/raspy it sounds and wondering if i went and pulled a exhuast from the y-pipe back to stock mufflers if anyone would know what it would sound like?

Dunno about sound, but you'll get very little gain from headers if you use restictive stock mufflers and pipes. If youy want a quick quiet NA, you need more/bigger mufflers. The best way to do this is with the original dual arrangement. I'd go with the presilencer you have (is that 2½"?) and split into two 2" or 2¼" mufflers with the biggest cans you can find. Remember the bigger they are externally, the quieter they'll be.

Racing Beat pre-silencer will quiet the car down. I have a RB header, RB pre-silencer and hks exhaust. Car sounds real nice when youre driving normal. When youre in WOT the car gets loud but not too loud. Its a nice loud. Im not a big fan of loud cars but I was very happy with the sound of this setup.

I have a RB presilencer that does not have the split air pipe fitting, and is desiged to fit the earlier 13b engines. BUT if you are getting it custom done and have some one to weld it on I'm selling it for $50 plus $10 for shipping outside of FL.
I payed $120 for it and never got it installed. It also comes with 2 of the exhaust conecting plates that cost $10 each.
The Pre silencer is 21" long.
Email me if interested.

Ya, I know the sound- I've been though about 20 different exhaust combos on my 3 rx7's!!
You NEED a pre-silencer. It really mellows things out- but it still will be loud, but it'll loose that sharp chainsaw sound.
Also- resonated exhaust tips make a KILLER difference. They REALLY mellow the sound, they give it a nice burble, with no sharpness at all. kindof a smooth underwater sound- if that makes sense to anyone who hasn't heard a jeep underwater, or a nice boat with a V-8 in it.
As for the stock cat-back. It will definately be quiter, but it'll suck.

You will gain MORE HP by going with a stock manifold, and a cat back, than you will from headers, and a stock catback!

Ok, I have the RB header and pre silencer to a Greddy Power extreme. I'm including a link to a mp3 of my car at an autocross with this setup.
http://zeffy.novus-logic.com/media/exhaust.mp3
I can tell you that is from 50-60 yards away from where I was driving. I can also say that with the stock cat back the car IS slower and will have a much more tinny sound after 3-4k rpm but down below 3k it sounds so mean, like muscle car mean.
At 'town' driving the car sounds like the very first section of the mp3, but remember that is from like 60 yards away.
To put this in perspective, people can hear me on the other side of the interstate if they have their windows down and I'm keeping the car under 3k rpm

I have the RB Header, RB Presilencer, and a N1 single muffler. It is so loud, you can hear it echo off of buildings 100 yards away, and it is still loud as hell!!! A uncorked rotary is one of the LOUDEST cars you could ever wish to drive!!! Man I love it!!! MUHWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
And Xentrix, I use that file as my startup noise on my computer!! I love the last part where the guy says "His is at 9..." I was wondering if I could use that as an intro for a RX-7 video I am about to start work on??? That is the funniest/coolest thing I have ever heard!!!

Great!! I hope to get it done over the summer!! I am thinking of using either "Wait and Bleed" or "Smack My Bitch Up" as the music, and you audio file as the intro over a black screen.

Not sure yet. I have a friend who works in the Texas A&M University visual lab, and they have several million dollars in software and hardware. I am gonna see if he will help, which I think he will. Now, to get some video clips of FCs in action.....

i think the car sounds great, and just from the sound of that clip it sounds like you can drive that thing. I have a pacesetter cat back with pacesetter headers and a gutted cat, my exhaust sounds a lot like that, i am thinking about getting a presilencer.
rico as far as the video goes i have some clips of my rx-7 powersliding in rallies and i have one clip where i actually caught air on stock suspension. It is all filmed from inside the tha car so it is all rough. I also have a few videos of my rx and a few others racing down an abandoned industrail park, i f you want them, i se if i i can find the tapes and rip them for you.
