Header + Presilencer VS. Downpipe + Presilencer

Both from racing beat, would you notice much of a difference performance wise? or would the onyl drawback be having to keep that big boxy rusted excuse for a header in your engine bay?

this has been discussed plenty of times before, while i have no data to back up any claims it seems that yes the header will make a little more power but not enough to deal with the awful noise some header setups produce. the only way i'll ever put a header back on my car is if i get a borla muffler to act as a presilencer. the noise my car made was plain godawful and louder than any street car should ever be.

The iron box collector is designed to detune the sharp exhaust pulses & mellow the tone at the expense of a small power loss.

If you are evolving to a ported engine, the header helps even more.

The presilencer is a must, to keep the noise down.

A sound bite from my prior NA (full dual, header, silencers, bombs) >>MP3 stereo sound bite

It totally depends on whether or not you're running a cat or presilencer and the sound quality of your mufflers. My RB header + stock main cat + RB catback is QUIET.

You shouldn't be in such a hurry. Better to do things slowly and properly, which generally involves saving and budgeting. RB headers + Random Tech Cat (what I will replace my stock main cat with eventually) + a quality (read: not too loud) catback will be awesome sound and performance.

will it really be that bad for me to go half an half though? I know what I want to do, eventually it will be all racing beat, I jsut cant afford it at the moment so I figured Id go header/downpipe and presilencer, then y pipe and mufflers later
