Haynes discontinuing the FC repair manual?
Earlier this week I stopped in at my local AutoZone to pick up a few things, the top of the list of those being the Haynes Repair Manual for my recently purchased '88 vert. When I didn't find one out on the shelf, I asked at the counter and they looked it up- and directed me to the "Closeout" table, where there was one left for $5. According to them, Haynes is discontinuing the FC repair manual- though it still shows up on the Haynes web site. So, potentially bad news down the line for new FC owners- but anyone looking to pick the book up now might want to check as you could save a bit of money. I'm just glad I got there when I did!
lies. autozone maybe discontinueing it because its being baught on the net
they have other manuals that still sell like old civics. theres no point in doing that
which reminds me, i lost my old one. im an idiot

I agree with Aaron, I use it a lot more than the FSM. Its far easier to find things in it and its actually more detailed in some things. I still use the FSM, too, but they both have stuff the other doesn't.
As for discontinuing them, I highly doubt it. To my knowledge they dont ever discontinue stuff. I suspect its what cygnus said and that autozone is just stupid and isn't carrying them anymore.

I suppose it does make sense that perhaps only AutoZone is discontinuing them. If so, now would be the time to head down to one and get it cheap.
I have the scans from the FSM, but I like having a physical book like the Haynes manual as well- it's a lot harder to drag even a laptop into the car to look up something I'm trying to figure out if there's a special trick to removing without breaking it. Plus I like the additional detail in the Haynes manual- after a while I probably won't need it, but it's useful to have nonetheless.

there are two kinds of discontinuations. store disco and manufacture disco. haynes wouldnt do that. the store simply isnt selling them. why would they wanna sell something 20 years old and super hella rare??
autozone or any autoparts store discontinue stuff because they cant sell them like they want to. and hayes manuals are awsome because they have stuff like torque setting and some of the wiring stuff are a little more detail that factory i have both FSM and hayes and the only thing i use the FSM is for trouble shotting and the hayes for torque setting and the wiring
Just incase it was a manufacturer discontinuation I ordered mine at Advance Auto Parts friday at 8pm and it was there saturday for pick up. I don't get the idea how thats rare but I have a service manual now so I'm happy.
