Having problems with the s4 (Pics)
Do you guys see anything here missing that might be the reason my baby isnt starting, i bought this car a few weeks ago she dosnt start I have no idea whats wrong. Clutch fan spins sparatically if that helps at all and it has a whirring sound over and over again she wants to start it seems like but she dosnt make it quite over ive tried quick start to no avail also
I have an mp3 of the sound if anyone wants to hear it
if they think they can fix the problem

take 'em out of course :XD
why is your intake hose are loose, and what's up with your AFM --- should be leveled by any means.
--- alright, so your intake box is missing... let us see your plugs first

Pull the EFI fuse (in the main fuse box in the engine bay), remove all the spark plugs. Crank the engine, listen for 6 even puffs of air coming out of the engines. At least then you'll know that you have compression Assuming you get even, consistant puffs, then (While the EFI fuse is out, and the plugs are still out), floor the car, and crank it a bit, only crank for up to 10 seconds at a time, with a 30 second cool down for your starter. Crank until no more "mist" comes out of your plug holes.
Now, take some regular engine oil that you have laying around (10W30 works fine), and inject a bit into the lower spark plug holes, this will help build compression for the next time. install NEW plugs, be sure to note the Leading (lower) and Trailling (Top) marks on the plugs. Reinsert your EFI fuse. (You may want to get a battery charger/have the battery fully charged/have the car jumped to a running car by this point), and crank it again. This time it will hopefully start up. Don't panic at the arseloads of white smoke, it's normal after flooding.
Hopefully this cures your ills.. If not, post back

radiator not hooked up fully, that looks different than my 88 too, the radiator doesnt have the connector on the drivers side, also to check spark set a plug (extra one) next to something grounded such as the bolts on the strut tower and see iff it sparks when cranking

the rad looks fine, long as inlet and outlet are in good circulation. as are on the same passenger side. driver side inlet looks blocked with plate, good.
yes, check the existance of spark for both leading and trailing terminals.

1st) Your AFM is pointed almost down, not good.
2nd) Your battery looks HORRIBLE corrosion wise.
3rd) Your rad neck is missing - that's not good as it can't seal to pull the proper coolant from the resv if there is no chance of making vacuum.

Someone said that it could be a compression situation
And they told me that I could pour auto transmission fluid in the intakemanifold to swell the seals for better compression.

Turn the main pulley with a socket and wrench and see if it turns without a problem, if it doesn't the motor could have carbonlocked from sitting up, then you have to unstick it (which is a different procedure).
If it turns ok, try to pull start it with a truck or get a really good running start with a few guys pushing it for ya! :P
