Have Some ?'s

Allright tonight my friend talked to a guy that has an rx7 a 2nd gen. And says that with about 800 dollars in mods that the 2nd gen is a low 12 sec car if you are a bad driver? I don't think that is possible at all. Can you give me some numbers on what these cars can run stock and what they can run when they are modified.
Thanks a Bunch

If it's a turbo and you do all the work yourself, yeah I could see it.

Totally stock, high-14's for Turbo and low-16's for NA is closer to reality.

It would require a lot more than $800 to run 12's, particularly if you wanted to do it more than once...

I highly doubt you could make a TII run 12s for $800.

It would take a few more $$$ than that.

These cars can be made to run 11s and 10s with enough money, but thats pushing street legal.

There is a really easy answer to this. Simply ask for a demonstration at the drag strip, and then offer to buy the car for $1,000 over Blue Book, which will give the owner a nice, fat $200 profit. This equates to a 25% return on his money, which is a fantastic return in today's economy, and he would be happy to make this profit if he is telling the truth. This usually shuts up those who lie about how much money they have in their car.

i think you could probably do 12's for 800. there are a lot of mods that can be done for free or very cheap such as weight reduction like a ****,homemade tid, ported throttlte body, ported wastgate, port matched manifolds, rewired fuel pump and you can get used parts like downpipes and exhaust and intake and crap for pretty cheap but he would still have to be a mad quick driver
