Have some problems can anyone help?

I just purchased my RX and theres a bit of things wrong with it and don't know what to do.
1) My car does not warm up during idle I have to actually run the car and the temp gauge will only go up a quater of the way.
2) My oil pressure all around is 30 at idle and like max of 40 at 6k rpms.. I know this is real bad.

My car is a 87 N/A and I do not leak oil.

I know that on S4's, quarter of the way up on the temp gage is the "warmed up" temp. If it goes higher, something might be wrong. On S5's, however, the stable temp. is half way up.
I hope this helps.
Good luck,
Shin

If your car isn't warming up the first thing you should check is the thermostat. A new thermostat costs less than $10 and is easy to replace. A cheap and easy fix to try first.

As for the oil pressure, you should clean the oil pressure sending unit, its contact, and the wiring clip that sends the info to the oil guage. Again, a good first try and it will cost nothing. It is easy to locate, just below the oil filter

Use only Mazda OEM thermostats. Others have had bad experiences with aftermarket brands.

I hope your not using the stock oil pressure guage to tell all this?
They're terribly innacurate.....

Yea replace the thermostat and flush the radiator while your at it - if you just bought the car who knows the last time its been done! Only use Mazda OEM - they are cheap and work very well. Sorry I don't know about the oil pressure! Anyway good luck with the ride!

On both of my rx-7s, the oil pressure at idle dropped to 30 PSI - that is normal -- or it should be. Your car isn't running the oil hard so to speak as it would be when running. That is when when you drive the car, the oil pressure guague shows ~60psi or whatever.

As far as tempature goes, you really shouldn't want your car to be higher than half-way, more than half-way usually means something bad -- and you don't want to drive the car. Overheating the engine is a bad idea.

If you think your t-stat is off, go to mazda and buy their t-stat. Only OEM parts for that. (and the waterpump).

As far as others are saying about the oil pressure being not accurate, they're wrong to some extent. Yes, sometimes your guages CAN stop working (i've seen it happen) but most of the time, they are accurate. If you are in fear of them not being accurate, then buy a one and give it a try.

Just my $.02

my pressure when driving is also 60psi and 30 at idle. my temp guage usually stops about third the way up. and when driving hard, has gone to 3/4 up.

My oil pressure while idling is about 30 and increases as rpm increases.

Maybe a dirty oil pressure gauge located right under the oil filter.

30psi oil pressure at idle is normal. If you arent sure if your gauge is accurate or not just check the sender unit, it's right below the oil filter. You will see this wire attached to a white plastic clip. Sometimes oil leaks down from the filter and drips on the sender unit making for a bad connection giving you false readings. Just disconnect the plug/clip and clean it off.

I would try changing the oil and changing the oil filter. That should help a little. My car also had low oil pressure at around 4k. But when i change my oil cooler line it went up to 60. I hope this helps..........

Yea I already changed mine ... So tommorow I am gonna flush it and check for bends and fix that and flush my oil cooler also. Anyone know the measurements for those 2 bolts that hold the oil cooler line onto the front I know 1 is 22 mm ? and there is another.
