Have oil pressure and oil level. Yet alarms

Add oil Alarm,

Just started my new motor with a new morcal oil thermostat. I have oil pressure but after about 30 seconds of run time the oil light comes on and the alarm buzzer screams. Is this a fault of the oil level switch? I think as long as I see oil pressure I’m not low in oil and ok to run?

thanks,

The oil level sensor should have a Red/White wire to it. When this wire has a ground on it the buzzer sounds out. You could attempt to read the current on this wire and see if it changes from one of voltage to a ground signal (ground signal does not necessarily have to mean 0 volts as something close to it will still cause the warning unit to sound off).

Doesn't low brake fluid trigger the same alarm?

There's no audible alarm for low brake fluid.

Ok. will try and measure voltage. Just confused because it has oil in it and oil pressure.

I imagine once the thermostat opened it filled up the oil cooler and your oil level went down in the pan.

have you checked the oil level again?

is the oil cooler high enough to drain into the pan?

I think your right. LOL
I just added about 500ml or more. When I have time will run it again and see. Man I feel like a moron. First time doing this. The last motor I installed on my 89 with stock oil cooler this did not happen.
