You will never be able to have seemless tint unless you order custom glass. A good shop can make the seems as small as possible. To run it accross the defrost lines will do two things. First, your defrost will not work because you will break the electical connection. Second, it will do a por job hiding the seem. The sheets of tint must overlap or there will be a white line. There is no way around it short of custom making glass.
Sorry.

WRONG!! I have my rear hatch tinted on my 91FC and it is all 1 piece of tint. It is very possible if whoever is doing it knows how to truly tint windows. YES I repeat it is 1 piece of tint on a bowed window!

i tinted my moms mercedes windows and a compound curved window, if you do it correctly you can't really even see any seems, you have to cut into strips and overlap them, then cut the overlap. lets see some pics of some tinted fc's.

Very right, but it is a VERY tough technique, best left up to the pros.

My hatch is tinted with two pieces, and they seam on the defroster line. The seam is not visible from inside or outside, and you can't even feel it with your finger. It was done by a professional shop though. My defrost still worked, though my car is summer only so I never use it anyway.

The trick with tinting (sort of like with regular vinyl application) is to have the special application fluid to put it down with. I've never done tint myself (well, i tried once, long ago before I knew of this), but that's how I've heard it done, from when I used to do vinyl graphics. I know its a lifesaver with regular vinyl.
