hatch swap for an s4

hey i have an 87 SE and i want to put a hatch with wiper on instead of my current hatch. a friend told me i have a dummy switch but will it work? or will i have to rewire anything?

ummm, do you have the rear wiper motor? what about the switches to turn it on?

well, he is asking about the switches i would say no he doesn't have switches, actually he stated, "i have a dummy switch", guess that meant hey dummy post here...

not trying to sound like a dick man, but just read before you post....

I am assuming that if you want to switch the hatch the one you are getting has a motor in it...

As far as I know all the rx7's were wired for all options from the factory, the only thing that got pluged in was what the original owner purchased, so in theory you should just have to plug in the wiper motor to the rear harness, go to your local junk yard and find a switch unscrew and unplug it, screw it into your dash and plug it up..

edit: oh you may need to add a fuse too, doubt the fuse box came fully stocked for options that were not purchased, but who knows...

ok... which fuse would it be? where will i check for the wiring to the hatch? wait... nvm... well not sure on that one.

heres the deal. unless i am wrong, not only do you have to have the switch, you also have to have the relay, the fuse, and the seperate wires.
good luck with all that, unless you are VERY familiar with 7 wiring, just forget about it.

in short, find the FSM for your model, will show what car came with and what you need to make your setup work...

uhhhhh in that case.... screw it lol.... i was just hoping for the strange occurance that it would have all the wiring done and the active switch and i could just buy a fuse and a hatch.... oh well... just an idea. stripping a parts car in a 'yard and wondering what else i can use fromit to improve on my car
