hatch back question

on my 88 rx7 gtu, when i pop the trunk it doesnt move at all. i have to almost pry it open. anyone ever have this problem? know how to fix it?

Whats the condition of the Struts? Usually they will spring a little bit when you release the trunk latch or open It with a key thus allowing you to get under the hatch to lift It up.

it only springs 1 mm if that it sucks

it should fully open all the way without touching it. mine goes half way or so

Not mine. Even after replacing them with S5's from the Interior I acquired aswell.

mine does, but only after I raise it partially, when it pops it only pops up a few mm, then I reach and lift it, then it goes all the way up...

it very common for those to ware out. They sell replacements at you local auto supply store.

is it the struts? because they stay where you put them they arnt lax or anything

That's what the rear wiper is for - it's a handle .

Think about it - it's a simple mechanical problem. Either the shocks don't have enough gumption to shove the hatch open, the hinges are gummed up, or the release latches are gummed up.

i think it is the release hatches. i looked at them and there is a latch that is sposed to move and it doesnt
