I'm wondering if anyone tried to change the way the hood opens on the FCs. So it opens like FB or the 1st gens.
thanx.

I'm sure you could fabracate some hinges and weld them in so you can. I've never seen one though.

if you do, you would need to change the lock/hood release and it will be a pain in the ***... my 2 cents

My only question would be WHY? What positive outcome is afforded by having a reverse style opening hood? I think Mazda designed what is the most effective for the car. For the FB is might have been the reverse opening style, however if 300+ Scientists came to the general conclusion my hood should open the way it does, than why go against them? I think it would be harder to work with as well on the FC. But whatever floats your boat Different strokes for different folks right?

Good Luck!

I think reverse hoods are freakin' badass, but it's not worth it to convert.....u'd need some custom spring hinges probably, and have to prolly weld a metal bracket above the radiator for the hinges to mount on, plus the locks on the front. my friend's 240z has that kinda hood and it's a bitch opening it because the springs have lost some of their streangth, just enough so it doesn't pop up away from the latch, making it so he needs two people to open his own hood.

i know that when working on the stuff near the back of the engine bay its a hell of alot easier with the hood off of the car...

i dont think thats a feesable statement, if 300+ scientist decided i needed a cold start assist.. why did they recall it? i do agree that this "mod" would just be a pain in the butt, and not really helpful in any way. i think it would just get in the way.

If you're working on the TB a lot, it might be a good idea.

I saw a show vert jumper 7 that had everything reversed - doors, hood, trunk, & gas door.
Oh - yea - and a chrome chain steering wheel.

Whatever floats you boat..
