Did you search? I guarantee there's a write up on the forum. I've seen it myself, though I've forgotten where it is.

I'm sure that a ton of people have as it's a popular topic and forsale item here.
Essentially you have to mount the differential, attach the driveshaft and the half shafts and you're set. I THINK you have to loosen up the rear subframe to get the whole pumpkin out.

Are you replacing the internals or the entire pumpkin?

If just the internals you have to to attach the ring and pinion to the new unit and go from there.

Also, the Hanes Manual is probably a better place to look for this as it would otherwise take somebody hours to have a description as close to what they do.

I'm in the same boat as pistones and may provide a lil write up on repairing, replacing, or just all out frankenstiening a blown stock lsd. We'll see what comes of it. I still have some pieces I need to finish up and order.

Ok it's not as easy as taking it out and throwing in new pinion and ring gears... If you do that the LSD will roar like crazy!!!

If you are replaceing the carrier with like a kaaz or cusco unit, before you take out the original measure and record the backlash. Then paint a portion of the ring gear with some kind of paint so you can look at the mesh patern of the pinon and ring gear. When you go to put the new unit in make sure that you keep the bearing races and adjusters on the correct side. Get the backlash and pattern along with the bearing preload back to the correct settings.

If you plan on replacing the pinon and ring gear make sure you have the right tools.

if youre asking how to do it yourself then god be with you.... the pumpkin is heavy, and somewhat difficult to get off the car ex; axles, driveshaft, subframe... then you gotta make sure when you crack open the case you dont lose any spacers and/or bearings and keep track what side came from where and then you gotta re-torque all the bolts and whatnot.... plus when putting it all back together its a bit more finicky cause everything has to line up so the ring gear can mesh/join/ whatever with the pinion gear correctly.....

its really easy when you have access to a lift and air tools... which can be done in about 2 hours or so removal and install... but doing it with jackstands and hand tools.... over 4 hours....

hint* make sure you have a breaker bar, them ring gear bolts are a bitch if you dont have a portable torch or similar source of heating.

follow the FSM which makes it straight forward.....

its not hard... its just heavy
