Hardware differences for GTU/TII spoiler S4 vs. S5

The quick question here is whether the mounting hardware is different for a 1988 car equipped with the "GTU-style" spoiler vs. the S5 coupes which all had the same spoiler. If you check the parts fiches, they list totally different part numbers for S4 vs. S5.

I'm about to have some painting done on the rear of my '88 GTU which came from the factory with the S5-style spoiler. I had an S5 GTU before and removed the spoiler a few times for painting, replacing the antenna mast, etc. Whenever I removed it, the two white clips in the rear corners always broke so I usually ordered a new pair from Mazda ahead of time to have them ready for the re-installation. According to the parts fiches, the S5 part number is FC17-51-968 and it calls for two which I know is correct. These clips have a twist connector on the top side that locks into a metal collar on the spoiler then there is a barbed plastic cone that snaps into the hole in the body with a rubber gasket around it to seal out water.

The fiche for the '88 indicates a different part number for the "spoiler clips" (KA-10-51-RS4) and calls for four clips plus another two "black fasteners" (GO-45-68-865). From the way they are listed, I can't tell if some cars use all six fasteners or if maybe some use the black fasteners instead of the clips.

Does anyone know if these two similar-looking spoilers actually use different mounting hardware? I do know that the '88 version of the spoiler has the "Mazda" logo in raised letters on the top of the wing while the S5 version has it embossed on the underside, so maybe they are really totally different.

(BTW, if you're wondering why I don't just take the wing off and look, if some of the clips break off as I'm sure they will, I'll be left with having to drive the car around with tape over all the holes ghetto-style while I wait a week for all the parts to come in and I'd prefer not to have to do that.)

Not sure about the KA-10-51-RS4 and GO-45-68-865

But the clips that break, yes on my 88 10th AE spoiler it used the FC17-51-968. That must be the updated part number (although most S4 dedicated parts start with FB).

Maybe the KA-10-51-RS4 and GO-45-68-865 are for the screws? or cover on the front hole? Or the black tabs that the FC17-51-968 clips onto.

Thanks for the info, Mark. I'm pretty sure the part numbers in the S4 fiche are not for the nuts, bolts, or screws themselves because those are identified with part numbers that are 9-digits and contain no letters, probably because they are not unique to the spoiler application. And the screw covers are sold pre-painted so those are easy to distinguish in the parts list.

You said the FC17-51-968 clipped into black tabs on your 10AE? Maybe this explains the second part number for S4 because on my S5 GTU the FC17-51-968 twisted into an unpainted metal collar on the spoiler itself but clipped directly into an empty hole in the body; no black tabs.

If you look closely at the S4 illustration, it looks like one KA-10-51-RS4 is used for the passenger side rear corner of the spoiler and one GO-45-68-865 is used for the driver side which makes no sense, but in the parts listing they call for 4 and 2 of each respectively as I mentioned. Why they call for four clips is a mystery, unless it is a misprint. If KA-10-51-RS4 has been replaced by FC17-51-968, I guess I can't go wrong by ordering four and having two extras for the next time I need to remove the spoiler.
