hardening stationery gears
just curious as im not sure what "gears" are being referred to.
is it the tranny gears or rear gears or.....?
and what are ways of hardening them?

Stationary gears are the gears inside the engine which the rotor rotate about, they are not in the transmission but in the endplates and faces of the rotors
These gears do not need to be hardened unless being used for high rpm operation or high output race engines.

Yes, the FD ones are hardened, and they are not swappable with the FC stuff - you need the FD thrust bearings.
The S5 stuff is "ion-nitrided", and it's more of a coating than a true hardening.
I believe ion-nitride is a wear-resistance coating.
