Any Ideas?

Was always hard to start, but even harder since I installed Rtek7 2.1.

The starter not cutting off happened to my Bronco once, the key was getting stuck all the way in the starting position and wouldnt turn back to the run position without help, I WD-40 the crap out of it and it started unsticking it.

So, wait, your guages are freaking smoking? Does it smell burnt like the wire casing burnt? Is it just coming from the gauges or is it coming out of your vents as well?

yeah i don't know the gauges where smoking and the starter was working just fine for the first minute of cranking.

Anyway, I didn't expect anyone to come up with a clear cut answer, I actually thought it was kinda funny and figured I would share. Once i Get my motor back in the car this weekend I'm sure I can figure it out.

And yes the car is a wiring nightmare, I'm going to buy a fire extinguisher this weekend.

when electrical items smoke, its almost always a short to ground. your best bet is to pull out the cluster and see what circuits took a ****, pull up a wiring diagram, get a voltmeter, and spend alot of time fixing

yeah, I have a multimeter, I'm pretty sure it wont be too bad to fix I'll just take the cluster and look for the cooked wire.
