NJ GXL Ring and Pinion Help

I am setting my n/a FC up for road racing and I am looking to put a big ring and pinion in it. I see 4.88 and 5.12 gear sets for 1st gens but nothing for the second gen except for 4.30s. If anybody knows where I can get the bigger gear sets let me know. Thanks.

Wait, do you want bigger gears, like moving from the 7" gears in the NA to the 8" gears in the TII, or do you want shorter (higher numerical) gears? I'll assume, since you mentioned gear ratios, that what you really want is shorter gears.

There are no gears for the FC other than the 3.9, 4.1 and 4.3, BUT, one can modify the short pinion FB/Miata gears to fit. IMHO, if the rules allow, the better solution will be to install the front section of a Miata diff into the FC housing and use a custom driveshaft and front mount solution so that you're not modifying the gears and it'll be stronger and it could well be cheaper too.
