I need help figuring out what this is. It is a 90, manual windows & locks, power sunroof, and heres a picture. If you need to know anything else about it to figure it out I'll post it.

Thanks

look at the center console...does it say Auto Adjusting Suspension? if so, then you have a GXL.

If it has crank windows then its not a GXL and is most likely a GTU, no go read the FAQ and all the other stickies before you ask another question thats been asked 47,000 times .

Look at the picture and the OP's description. It's a GTU.

Wow, I really appreciate someone who comes in to ask what they have instead of bringing in a GTU and saying "yeah look at my GTUs with the sunroof, crappy brakes and the 's' that fell off! What? No, screw you guys you dont know what you're talking about."

Yeah, you know who Im talking about.

That picture shows no definitive signs of it being a GTU or a GXL, It does have a GXL wheel up front though.

actually, my 90 GTU has those wheels, so that's not an accurate statement. One definate way to tell is the Electronic Suspension. Do you know if has an LSD? Don't some GXLs have an lsd? I know the s4 GTU does, s5 GTU does not, and the s5 GTUS does. I'v yet to figure out the GXL LSD thing. But yeah, the electronic suspension thing is the best way to determine.

From what icemark posted I am pretty sure that it is a GTU...b/c it shows manual windows under the gtu and also the power sunroof as optional....and I have seen wheels like that on GTU before.

S4 GXL= clutch type LSD
S5 GXL= open differential

Covered in the FAQ for FC sticky thread and the What did my car come with, standard features and options sticky thread.

Only real way to tell at this point is VIN or some info from the door sticker.

By this time, someone could have put in manual windows, had different rims put on etc. The VIN will tell the story.

nah, wiper switch and rear window.

Unless the car had major work done (such as peiced back together after an accident) if there is a rear wiper or rear wiper switch, the car is a GXL.

Running the VIN will show it up as a "GXL or GTU", unless you have the Mazda dealer run the VIN.

This was about 10 posts too long. The link I put up made it easy. The only 90 without power windows/locks was the GTU. /thread

That would be wrong. I think you are confusing S4 with S5. The S4 GXL and Turbo (and 88 GTU) all had the clutch type LSD, but no S5 non turbo except the rare GTUs (note the small s- don't confuse with a GTU) had a LSD... and the few S5 FCs that did have a LSD- had the viscous differential... not the clutch type.
